La Noche que Desvela una Luz sin Medida

Hundreds of glass beads, sequins, rhinestones, gold threads and heirlooms from the artist’s family* come together in a work that embodies safety and care. Between protection and invocation, this piece reconsiders faith as something personal, disentangled from religious doctrines.

In Spanish, the word desvela carries a double meaning: to uncover, but also to remain awake because of vigilance or devotion, echoing the shimmering details that gleam all across this dark, armoured piece. The work’s design blends traditional motifs with golden flames and the iconic Fox Racing logo, direct links to the artist’s lifelong love of motocross, a passion that runs in the family. In this way, two opposite worlds collide: slow, time-consuming hand-embroidery techniques meet fast paced, bold graphics on cushioned protective gear; a motocross glove transformed into a contemporary reliquary.

The hand, a universal tool of creation, seems to grip at something too vast to be contained. It is this light, patiently revealed by the artist through every stitch, that ultimately honours the act of making as a fragile yet radical event.

*The medals used in this work, cast in various metals, belonged to the artist’s great-grandmother Eduwigis Llorente. Collected in the early 1900s at monasteries across Europe and recently inherited by the artist, they are placed here to repurpose and extend their meaning.
